Martin McConley Clancy, 84, of Amarillo died Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Paramount Baptist Church with Dr. Gil Lain officiating. Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday in Buffalo Cemetery in Mayfield, Okla., by Cox-LaGrone Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive.
Mr. Clancy was born Dec. 28, 1924, in Greenwood to James and Nettie Uhrin Clancy. He graduated from Erick High School and served in the U.S. Army.
He married Verma Dean Wheeler in 1947, in Wheeler. Martin was saved when he was a teenager and was a deacon in the Baptist church.
His faith and his family were the most important things in his life and he loved gardening and fishing and was the true head of his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and 13 brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Sheila Boyd and husband Robert and Donna Cummings and husband Mike, all of Amarillo; a son, Michael Clancy and wife Ann of Kansas City, Mo.; a brother, Elmer Clancy of Staten Island, N.Y.; eight grandchildren, Craig Yerger of Borger, Lisa Opdyke of Dallas, Chad Cummings and Christopher Clancy, both of Oklahoma City, Matthew Clancy of Kansas City, Cameron Cummings of Fort Worth, and Colin Cummings and Karen Logan, both of Amarillo; and 15 great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be to Addie Moore Memorial Scholarship Fund, in care of Paramount Baptist Church, 3801 S. Western St., Amarillo, TX 79109-5594.
The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
