George Earl Jobe, 82, of Amarillo died Thursday, Sept. 30, 2010.
Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. today in Cox Funeral Home Benton Chapel, 4180 Canyon Drive, with Charlie Cox officiating.
Mr. Jobe was born Jan. 28, 1928, in Harlingen to Grover and Alma Jobe. He was raised in Harlingen and attended Harlingen High School before entering the U.S. Army Air Corps. He served his country in World War II.
He married Jackie Tankersley on Jan. 28, 1949, in Harlingen. They moved to Amarillo in 1959, where he went to work as a salesman for Morrison Supply. He worked his entire career for them until his retirement.
Mr. Jobe enjoyed fishing in the Gulf as well as playing golf. He learned to shoot pool as a boy and loved the game all of his life.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jackie; his parents; and two brothers, Dudley Jobe and Fred Aldrich.
Survivors include a daughter, Shelley Rae Jobe McWilliams of Amarillo; a sister, Ruth Winter and husband Roy of Harlingen; and three grandsons, Rocky, Corey and Dusty, all of Amarillo.
The family suggests memorials be to Olivia's Angels, in care of BSA Hospice, P.O. Box 950, Amarillo, TX 79105; or Heifer International, 1 World Ave., Little Rock, AR 72202.
The family will be at 109 W. Valencia Drive, south of Amarillo, after the services.
